JFK Airport Parking Options

John F. Kennedy International Airport

John F. Kennedy International Airport is the 6th busiest airport in the US and the 20th busiest international airport in the world, which is fairly evident if you've ever been there.

Currently, JFK has six terminals: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8. There are 128 gates for planes and 4 runways.

Even though it opened as New York International Airport, the airport was known as Idlewild Airport. It was later renamed after President John F. Kennedy.

The airport is in the middle of its JFK Redevelopment program, and by 2023, modern facilities should be ready for use.

Given how much parking costs in New York City, it's not surprising that JFK has some of the most expensive parking rates in the US. You might be able to save some money on long-term parking if you plan ahead.

    Hotel lots

Hotel lots allow you to park at nearby hotels and the hotel shuttle takes you to the airport.

Before using hotel lots, I’d recommend you read more about how these lots work on my guide to airport parking, particularly the section on hotel lots here.

If you are able to use hotel parking, you may be able to find a great rate. Last I checked, JFK hotel parking ranged from $6 - $30 per day with the best rates found at On Air Parking, Way.com, and instaPark.

Depending on the lot you choose to park at the airport and the duration and the lot you choose, the rate of the parking lot ranges from $6 for a half-hour, $4 each additional 1/2 hour or part thereof, with a maximum of $29 to $70 of short-term parking. Meanwhile, you’ll pay $26 per day for valet long-term parking. While long-term parking starts at $20 per day.

If you want to ditch parking fees at JFK Airport, you may use the cell phone lot located at the entrance. Drivers must remain with their vehicles at all times while waiting for the passenger they are picking up.

Generally, the cheapest parking depends on your needs. The parking rates at the Green, Orange, and Red Parking lots are $6 per the first 30 minutes and $8 per hour, with a daily maximum of $36. For long-term parking, the cheapest option would be Parking Lot 9 where the parking fee is $18 per day.

Yes. SmartPark® is a long term and short-term valet parking lot that serves JFK passengers. You can book their valet service through this link.

Yes. You can use their electric vehicle charger using an RFID-enabled credit card or Chargepoint access card. Electricity is offered free of charge. Regular parking fees apply as you exit the parking lot. Chargepoint can be obtained at chargepoint.com.

JFK offers dedicated parking for motorcycles. As you approach the parking lot, you will see signages for Motorcycle Parking. It’s located next to the “Kiss & Fly” area. On the other hand, you will have no problem parking oversized vehicles on all uncovered parking at JFK Airport.

Yes. To book your parking space in advance, can follow this link. If you book at least 24 hours in advance the parking costs are significantly discounted. There are also offsite parking lots you can use and book your space well in advance:

Unfortunately, JFK Airport doesn’t offer discounted parking for both veterans and militaries in active duty.

Yes. There are marked parking spaces for customers with restricted mobility available in each parking lot near the terminal entrance, subject to availability. Your vehicle must have official disabled license plates or other permits displayed to park in these reserved spaces. The daily maximum is $29 for these spots and to get this discount you must press the "Help" button and/or talking with the attendant at exit.

American Airlines is located in Terminal 8 at JFK. As the biggest terminal at JFK, Terminal 8 is split into two concourses, Concourse B housing gates 1-16 and Concourse C housing gates 31-47. Concourse C is a longer walk, so plan accordingly. If you want to shop or eat while waiting for your flight, the main hall just beyond security on the third level of the terminal is your best bet. So if you’ve got time, stop on the way rather than waiting to get to you gate.

Delta Airlines is located in Terminals 2 and 4 at JFK. While Terminal 2 at JFK is quite small and has a limited access to dining and shopping options, Terminal 4 is quite large and offers an array of options. Check with your airline before starting your travel day at JFK to know what your wait-time will entail. These two Terminals are both located in the southeast corner of JFK, so park accordingly. Keep in mind that these two terminals have 2 different parking lots available, as well.

JetBlue Airlines is located in Terminal 5 at JFK. JetBlue hosts a rooftop terrace for passengers that includes a children’s area and is a great place to await your flight if you’ve got the time. In the terminal itself has a slew of options that will make you want to arrive hours ahead of your flight. From nap pods to the Be Relax airport spa to two separate children’s play space areas, it has everything you need to pass the time.

United Airlines is located in Terminal 7 at JFK. Terminal 7 is the smallest terminal at JFK and as such offers the least in the way of amenities for travelers waiting for their flight. There are only 12 gates in Terminal 7, making it extremely easy to navigate. Recently new expedited security lanes have been opened in Terminal 7 for Clear members. These lanes are apart of a series of services they are trying out to bring in more customers and you can benefit from this test if you are traveling through Terminal 7 at JFK.
